Once you have set your primary integration options on the Config GL Interface (Distribution) screen, you need to setup GL interface records (or "integration tables") corresponding to the options you have chosen. You do this using the GL Interface master file in MDS (refer to "File - GL Interface").
An advanced General Ledger has the compulsory TOTAL interface record as well as multiple interface records to support the dissection settings.
A GL interface record called TOTAL is compulsory within MDS. It is the standard, multi-purpose GL interface record setup to accumulate financial transactions to the General Ledger. The TOTAL interface record for larger organisations can be setup in exactly the same way as for smaller organisations.
Where you select Combination as the integration option for a set of fields on the Config GL Interface (Distribution) screen (rather than TOTAL), you need to setup separate GL interface records to support the types of dissections specified. In the previous topic, Warehouse dissections were set for:
There are four warehouses - New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and Perth. This means four GL interface records must be setup to ensure that entries are dissected correctly between the four warehouses.
Each warehouse record needs to have a GL interface record associated with it to ensure that data is captured and transferred correctly. The warehouse record shown below has the NSW interface record attached (in the GL Interface field). Therefore, a GL interface record called NSW needs to exist for data to transfer correctly to the GL accounts set up in the Chart of Accounts for the New South Wales warehouse.
